Rosemarie the Pear {free pattern}

rosemary-th3

Hello! Isn’t Rosemarie just adorable? I designed her myself, I spent a few hours crocheting and unraveling until I got it right. So, please respect my work and read carefully my term of use before doing anything.

Difficulty

This is a very simple pattern so it’s suitable for a beginner.

Requirements

Same type of yarn in three colours: colour A for the pear, colour B for the stalk and colour C for the leaf. Hook size suitable for your yarn choice. If you are going to give your pear a face, you’ll need safety eyes or 2 buttons for the eyes, pink or red felt for cheeks.

Abbreviations

I am using US terminology.
mr – magic ring
sc – single crochet
dc – double crochet
hdc – half double crochet
trc – triple crochet
ch – chain
st – stitch
inc – increase (2 stitches in the same stitch)
dec – decrease (2 stitches worked as one/together)
fo – fasten off

The pattern

Pear

with colour A
1. 6 sc in a mr
2. 2 sc in each sc (12)
3. *inc, 1 sc in next sc* repeat whole round (18)
4. *inc, 1 sc in next 2 sc* repeat whole round (24)
5. *inc, 1 sc next 3 sc* repeat whole round (30)
6. *inc, 1 sc in next 4 sc* repeat whole round (36)
7. sc around (36)
8. *inc, 1 sc in next 5 sc* repeat whole round (42)
9-16. sc around (42)
Note: if you want to use safety eyes, place them now between rows 12 and 13, or 13 and 14.
17. *dec, 1 sc in next 5 sc* repeat whole round (36)
18. *dec, 1 sc in next 4 sc* repeat whole round (30)
19. *dec, 1 sc in next 3 sc* repeat whole round (24)
You can begin stuffing after this step. Frankly, I begun stuffing after round 24, but some like to stuff as they go. Be careful whith this operation. Stuff firmly and evenly, and after you finish stuffing and fastening off, give your amigurumi more shape with your hands.
20-24. sc around (24)
Continue stuffing as you go. Stuff firmly, but don’t exagerate.
25. *dec, 1 sc in next 2 sc* repeat whole round (18)
26. sc around (18)
27. *dec, 1 sc in next sc* repeat whole round (12)
Finish stuffing.
28. dec around (6)
fo but don’t close the little hole because you will sew the stalk there.

Stalk

with colour B
1. ch 11
2. starting in 2nd ch from hook, work 1 sc in each ch until end (10 sc)
cut yarn and tie the two remaining yarns into a knot – this is going to be the base of the stalk

Leaf

with colour C
1. ch 13
2. 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 hdc in next ch, 1 dc in next 2 ch, 1 trc in next 4 ch, 1 dc in next 2 ch, 1 hdc in next ch and 3 sc in last ch, turn; on the other side make 1 hdc in next ch, 1 dc in next 2 ch, 1 trc in next 4 ch, 1 dc in next 2 ch, 1 hdc in next ch, 2 sc in last ch (27 stitches)
3. 2 sc in 1st st, 1 sc in each of next 12 st, 3 sc in next st (this is the tip of the leaf), 1 sc in next 12 st, 2 sc in last st (31 sc)
fo

Assembly

Sew the base of the stalk in its place. The leaf is croocked so make sure the front of the leaf is on the outside. Then sew the base of the leaf at the base of the stalk, as shown in the reference pic. Weave in ends.

If you didn’t use safety eyes, sew two buttons or beads between rows 12 or 13 or 13 and 14, leaving aprox 9 stitches beteen them. Sew a mouth or a muzzle and two pieces of felt as blushy cheeks.

Now enjoy the cuteness. 🙂
